Tie Dan - Iron Egg from Taiwan

Tie Dan (鐵蛋) in English is Iron Egg. It is a famous food from Tamsui, Taiwan. One of my friends just came back from Taiwan and brought me a package of Tie Dan.

Reading from the package, this is a hot pepper iron egg.  Iron egg is made from quail egg, which will be stewed repeatedly in spices and air-dried.

I opened the package and inside there is this vacuum package containing 32 quail eggs (Iron Egg).

This is what it looks like!

Yes, I just had a bite. Taste good. It is a bit spicy hot and not as hard as the other Iron Egg. It seems that this brand is much better. That's why it says "Taiwan Best" on the front of the package.

So may be next time if you have a chance to go to Taiwan, remember to try this out.

You can find more info here regarding Iron Egg.
