Simply Mango a day at the countryside.

Last Sunday, a cold, wet and rainy day. Me and my family visited a Honey Bee farm. Of cause my simply Mango also went with us.

We visited a bee and honey farm first. This is a very small farm most of the Honey are all produced in China. This is on

The sign said " Welcome to Honey Bee Kingdom"
Wow, look at all those little bees.

I think this one wants to squeeze out.

Then, we went to a local dairy farm in Hong Kong. This is a very small local business. There is only 4 cows in the farm. I really don't know where are the other cows?

Hi!
After visiting the bee and dairy farm, we went to a village very close to the Hong Kong and China border.

The Wan Ancestral Halls.
Local village school.  It has been closed down already.
Inside one of the classrooms.
More classrooms in the building next to the basketball court.

Old village house.
What's cooking! Local villagers still use this stove to cook food.
Look all those fire woods.

After viewing the local village, we went to lunch and then we visit a local herbal tea company.

Mango is standing beside a traditional herbal tea dispenser. There are 4 kids of them.

Tie Dan - Iron Egg from Taiwan

Tie Dan (鐵蛋) in English is Iron Egg. It is a famous food from Tamsui, Taiwan. One of my friends just came back from Taiwan and brought me a package of Tie Dan.

Reading from the package, this is a hot pepper iron egg.  Iron egg is made from quail egg, which will be stewed repeatedly in spices and air-dried.

I opened the package and inside there is this vacuum package containing 32 quail eggs (Iron Egg).

This is what it looks like!

Yes, I just had a bite. Taste good. It is a bit spicy hot and not as hard as the other Iron Egg. It seems that this brand is much better. That's why it says "Taiwan Best" on the front of the package.

So may be next time if you have a chance to go to Taiwan, remember to try this out.

You can find more info here regarding Iron Egg.

Yummy Fish Ball

Today, my ex-colleague called me and asked me out for lunch. We went to Aberdeen for fish ball noodle. The shop we went to is (山窿謝記魚蛋) Shan Loon Tse Kee Fish Ball. It is famous for its fish ball and deep fried fish meat. We drove all the way to Aberdeen and try this shop because it will close down for good by the end of this month.

By the time we arrived, this was what we saw. Half the street was packed with people queuing up and visitor taking pictures.
There was a long queue already. We waited around 10 mins.
We ordered 2 bowls of fish ball, deep fried fish meat with rice noodle and a dish of vegetable.
These are the 2 bowls of fish ball, deep fried fish meat rice noodle plus a dish of vegetable.
In the bowl, there were two kinds of fish balls, 4 are normal  and 1 is deep fried. There are 2 pieces of deep fried fish meat plus some vegetable. We want to have a dish of deep fried fish meat, however they were all sold out for the day!

After we finished the noodle, we decided to order one more bowl of fish ball.

Yummy!!!! Yummy!!!

JiuZhaiGou, China 九寨溝

I went to JiuZhaiGou and Chengdu, China in November last year. I saw lots of big pandas and baby Pandas in Chengdu and in JiuZhaiGou I saw stunning natural scenes. However, I personally think that JiuZhaiGou is a must go place in China. Here are some of the photos I took. Enjoy. May be you can see more here.

Gift from Taiwan

Pineapple cake from Taiwan. This is from Taipei Airport Duty Free.

The design of the box is nice.
This is the Pineapple cake and is different from the other cake. This one is biscuits style. If you have eaten one before you will know what I mean.

It's time to try out!
Look! Lot's of Pineapple!!!!!

Gift from Japan

This is Miso with beef and garlic. Taste good with rice and noodle. However the taste and smell of the garlic is so strong (you can tell from my pic) that it overtaken other ingredients.
